last one to go! (:
although i'm really screwed for the two today as well. ):

i wanted to cry.
i wanted to bury my head and sleep.
i wanted to fall sick.
all that happened after today's paper.
more specifically, today's math paper.
it was that disastrous.

GP was fine as always, except the constant worry for my essay being irrelevant.
the feeling of brain-deadness just prevaded my senses three quarters through the math paper. and i thought 'there's really no more mood in studying in school for tmr's econs and bio papers anymore. i'm gonna fail another two subjects thanks to math.'

and then i came home, took a bath, got some food into my system, and watched AYG opening for awhile. that combination rejuvenated me a little (which should be spent on econs and not blogging. 'yes i know that!' my conscience is taking over my mind a little too much lately..).
AYG opening. not very impressive. dances were a little off choreography, and somehow for an international event, it doesn't give off the grand impression that it should. but good effort though. and then came the speech. a monotonous one. with halting phrases and no variation in tone at all. (did he ever do project work in school? he should...) the second guy whose first language isn't even english gave a more ear-pleasing speech than the former.

and then i chanced across a photograph on the table.
for once i felt..BIG.large. out of proportionately huge in comparison to the people around me.
i thought i was supposed to be small sized!!
and here i am looking...round. ok, maybe i'm just comparing myself to the bride who's about half my width.
sighs.
and here's that wedding photo of the wedding dinner i admired (and the groom was from NJ..haha. at least he turned out well.) of my mom's good friend's daughter.

-left- me, husband-1, mom, bride's mommy, mom's goodfriend number 2, wife-1, bride, groom, wife-2, husband-2, wife-3, husband-3, dad, bride's dad.
-ok, blogger doesn't want to upload the photo. another day then.-
*gushes* the bride is so pretty!! and so is the groom! i want my wedding to be like that..the prettiest day of a lady's life.

the weather's screwed up.
and it's screwing with my mind.

off to uh, attempt reading econs in a nice sleepy weather.

please tell me i have not returned to my manga reading days..
i am far from finishing reading the content for the 5 subjects i'm tested on. yet i spent friday and saturday away.

i just want to go shopping
i just want to bake
i just want to have a relaxed sleep
i just wish exams never existed.

and then i go into another examination hall, never fully prepared.

today's a funny day.
i got slapped on the ass......
by a 3 year old boy.
at tiong bahru market.
wow.

study week is really no fun, such that i just totally lost concentration yesterday. took at least 2 naps before i finally just gave up and went home. ( a mosquito had to convince me that there was really not much point in forcing myself to stay in school and study when nothing was happening.except getting bitten by mosquitoes.)
and proof of my boredom, i wrote my blog post on one of the rough sheets of paper i used to do my revision. as facebook's typing maniac has proven, i'm a slow typer. perhaps writing would have been so much more efficient ( it took me about half an hour).

well if you bothered to even read that^, the story continues on with me sleeping for another 20 mins, going home, watching gossip girl, then doing some online shopping. hah.

some photo updates:
walking home from bukit merah after studying in school. the street lamps just looked pretty.

attempt to study at the grandstand on thursday instead of oasis. it was..lonely and boring, until alicia came along with yeeni.

thursday's tiramisu craving satisfied at Liquids Cafe.
couldn't taste much of the alchohol, but felt it tingling a little.

chocolate macarons! the nicest i've made so far. made on thursday too.
Chocolate lava cake and blueberry muffins. made last friday night to satisfy chocolate craving.
midnight studying snack. blueberry, marshmellows and Post's strawberry crunch cereal.
this morning's creation: Pre-mixed Flan. it tastes exactly like Caramel Custard, so i suppose they're the same thing.yum.

See, studying ALWAYS makes me fat. stress = sugar cravings = make something sinful = eat the whole batch = grow fat. sighs.

so much for not baking this holidays anymore.

i don't want to be mean, but some of the girls are just cliches and are kinda hilarious.
I'm watching the bachelor on tv now with my mum [it's obviously advertisement break now], wednesdays, starts at midnight on channel 5.

well, the bachelor's an italian prince. and so this season's somewhat like a fairytale. he grew up in america though, and i have to say, is pretty cute (: he's got like this perferct row of teeth to create this cute smile. except that he gives this same big wide smile to every lady, it looks a little static.

on to the woman. there's one that reminded me of the blue fish in Finding Nemo, another dolphin trainer who looks like a dolphin, a mini-parishilton-meangirl-cross[read:totalrichbimbo], a chaser...and the rest were alright.
wiki on the bachelor: prince lorenzo

i just had to record this down before i forgot all about it while studying. it's really rare, that i remember dreams after i wake up. and today's is even more special! as i had not 1, not 2, but 3 dreams!

dream number 1: black smoke
I looked out my bedroom window, and the sky was sunny all around except in one area. ahead of me, low dark clouds gathered around the buildings, as if i was going to rain in that small district. but, the clouds grew
thicker, grew blacker and started to expand! Just like the shadows in Charmed (this really old TV show on 3 witch sisters), it started to move towards my block. even though it seemed as though it rose up to about 10 storeys, and i was on the 23rd, i had this instinct that breathing in that smoke would be a terrible thing! and so i got my brother to help me close all the windows in the house as fast as possible as it was approaching rapidly! but while i was closing the last of windows, the black noxious thing stopped at the building before ours. false alarm for me, and it gradually began to clear. i don't know what possessed me to go downstairs and check out the situation. and i found: a crowd. with a blue unmarked van and a few blue burly men in bulletproof jackets in the open centre of the crowd. I think i asked what happened, and one of the men showed me a missile. as in those i saw on the Discovery channel, where they can be loaded onto gun and fired, used by some terrorist or guerilla groups too. they were firing that. around housing estates??!! and the weird thing is (that can only happen in dreams) was that there's no damage at all! only just lots of smoke..their reasons for doing so? i can't remember, only that it was stupid.
ok...this is almost what the 'missile' looked like...the bottom one. apparently it's a anti-tank hand grenade 0_0

dream number 2: doctor's visit
I visited the GP clinic [but i felt fine in the dream, really] I entered the doctor's office, to find the doctor and two nurses watching a movie on a TV propped onto a trolley. and so i sat there and waited. and then the doctor paid attention to me. I think we ran through some normal checkup procedure, and then suddenly the nurse's attention was brought away from the screen to me. she announced that i have some weird sickness in it's clinical name, which was basically - the flu. but she was stuttering so much over the name that the doctor just handed me the card he wrote on to read what he diagnosed. ok....and so i went over to the counter to pay and collect my meds for a flu i did not feel. i got home to pass my mom the receipt, and i didn't notice what they charged for till she asked me. apparently there was a chest X-ray, some other service which had to do with buses (??) and the bill was $59.90. the meds had cost $39.90.( for 10 pills. oh wow. $4 for each) oh did i mention that the movie the nurses were watching was Saw?

dream number 3: an nj hockey gathering.
I met up with edwin, karen, david and john for uh, dinner i think. we were only drinking soybean though. and then we met alex and aleee together coincidentally at the same restaurant. the whole restaurant was empty except for us hockey people, with the two groups sitting at opposite ends of it. table and stools were fashioned like an old chinatown coffeeshop with varnished glossy wood. karen and john left, alex and aleee didn't join us, and so i went over to their table to talk to aleee (why did i do that anyway?). she was eating uh, melted chocolate ice cream and had a soybean drink.haha. after awhile i think i was feeling third-partyish and went back to our own table where apparently, we actually finished a steamboat dinner, and shaun p. had mysteriously appeared! he was the only one eating, finishing up the last of our spicy steamboat. and then the store started closing with all of us inside..hm.

well, after typing out all these, i figured my dreams were somewhat related to my waking hours before it. i had messaged aleee abt booking pitch for a hockey thing, and when i was adding the recipient i typed 'ale', and both aleee and alex appeared. haha. and then the movie Saw - juniors were watching it during chalet and i had just blogged about it.as for the first dream....i have no clue where that came from.

now. back to start studying! it's earlier than yesterday, being 1pm now (:

this shall be my 'study' log of today. note the inverted commas.
1. Woke up at 9.30am intending to study despite 5 hours of sleep.
2. checked and replied to numerous emails (and voted for clearcache for SBA, and a little more surfing) till uh...1.40pm. oh yes, my wonderful discovery of ladyironchef
2.1. had breakfast at about 11am
3. 1.40am: Layed out my studying table in my room [ok, it's just a mahjong table]
4. Started flipping through David Waugh and AQA on Urbanisation.
5. Fell asleep on table at about 2.50pm.
6. Woke up to change my head position at 3.10pm.went back to nap.
7. Woke up and moved to bed at 3.30pm.
8. Slept till 5.30pm.
9. Refreshed myself and made my 'survival tray'.
10. 5.45pm - continued reading AQA on urbanization.
11. 6.30pm - went onto National Geographic Website..and internet surfing continued all the way, comparing phones and laptops on CNET to replace my current gadgets.
12. 2 hours later...i'm blogging this post. heh.

and guess what, lunch was skipped, dinner hasn't been prepared. i think this is the day i ate the least[wow.] [vegetarian bee hoon for breakfast, peanut pancake as snack at 1pm, brownies smeared with nutella and a cup of milk at 6pm]. alright..not all that little.

since i'm already blogging, i've got tons of events i haven't updated. even my pre-u sem post is still unfinished.
and just a summary, for those who do not need my long-winded lengthy details on the events.
saturday- heeren mugging, QUIS preformance SSF, cosplay event, SG24 gathering
sunday - reads and tuition and captain's present production
monday - hockey chalet cum handover
tuesday - cycling, aftermath of chalet effects
wednesday - crescent hockey outing, project runway, tim gunn's guide to style, mass wardrobe packing

SHIT I JUST MISSED NINJA WARRIOR! ): - 9.10pm

ok..this post is seriously interrupted by many things, since before i move on, my dinner's taking on centerstage! Healthy & delicious pasta (it has carrots AND celery), pam's expertise at the microwave conjured up this delectable meal for one, to provide me with energy to type out the rest of this post. what would have made it out of this world would be some company...

the sauce. (maybe it's a little too much...)

plus the pasta (:

Alrighties! back on to the mundanes of my life.

starting with saturday[13th june], (since friday was shamefully boring of surfing the net), it was a pretty hectic day. My intention to get up into one of orchard's starbucks by noon was hindered by house chores and well, my usual slowness. Still, managed to settle into Heeren's Spinelli with a cup of Chcolate twist (it's just ice-blended chocolate) at 2pm, and started on Chenchel's birthday card. that spent half an hour away, before i finally started on math - Permutations and Combinations. a frustrating subject for a person with little logic, and thankfully i had more than a little, but still, one and a half hours only got me through 5 questions? Sometime among that, Gimlim dropped by with David Waugh, an expertise on geography. Waugh stayed on with me at the table quietly stressing me with geog, while i frustrated over math.

at 4.15pm, it was time to head over to *scape where QUIS [david's band] performed some jap songs for Singapore Street Fest. [Liu] Min was supposed to accompany me for the mugging session as well as the performance, but she was somewhere else. So i met aleee, michelle & her boyfriend...and then junfu and john....and then edwin {by this time, the performance was already over} Took a bit of photos, caught up with david, before i had to rush down with Waugh to Somerset MRT to meet Shihui, another dear drama senior. Min came then, missing the gig completely, and apparently was looking around the wrong event area for me.

Jasmine coincidentally popped up, and we stood around discussing all things Jap. Soon, Waugh twin number 2 came, I thanked Waugh's babysitter, then left with Min and the Waugh twins back to attempt to pose with cosplayers from Vampire Knight. alas, both cosplayers left, and so the quartet of us headed for cineleisure. by this time, i decided not to head on to holland V for chenchel's birthday dinner at Swensen's regrettably, as it was drizzling and carrying Waugh twins around are no mean feat. Met up with aleee and gang, at Heeren's Pasta de Waraku, before i left Min there for dinner and headed for my next destination - Breadtalk. and the closest was Wisma. and so i speedwalked manouvering around crowded saturday orchard choppers, bought cake, and headed down to sunset way [still with Waugh twins, they were accompanying me home]

This party, exclusive to SG24 members, was held at yanka's house, where pizza, China coke, cake, chips, chicken wings and rice crackers were abound. played some failed drinking game(which i finally learnt properly at chalet), and sang Isabelle a Happy 17th Birthday song! soon enough, the pool closed and no one swam, and everyone left except me, joyce and mad on to yanka's house. for a party, leaving at 10pm is rather early, but you gotta consider the 15 minute deserted walk out to the main road , and people living real far away. We played Asshole/Rectum daidee, while waiting for my parents to come pick me up. ta da. an end to my saturday the 13th. sadly we didn't take any photos of the SG24 party, and didn't eat any of the cold cakes! [we only fed off mad's japanese light cheesecake]

my recuperating sunday was spent with Meredith Bancroft and Matthew Farrell in Paradise. My last two posts dated on sunday/monday were due to literary-inspired-syndrome, where my mind just becomes engrossed in literature. My only break from the book, was caused by my tuition teacher turning up on the doorstep, which i was pretty unprepared for. once that was over...back to the book! yes, non-stop reading of 709-pages of romance turmoil, all the way into monday. in between reading was the snail-bitingly slow process of producing the captain's present for hockey handover. [ironically it should be the book was distracting the production process.] so, if you figured under all that prose, i didn't sleep till i finished the book.

Monday. a fine line to be drawn, overlapped with sunday, but i spent the morning sleeping from 8am to noon. just a precautionary measure to prevent me from keeling over and fainting from lack of sleep later. moved aimlessly around the house for the next three hours, before i left for the chalet, so that i wouldn't get too high too early with everyone around [it takes a lot of energy to be around people, and i have very little of that on that day], cooked an unsatisfactory lunch.

arrived at costa sands close to 5pm. where i joined in the bridging club in the cooler air-conditioned room before dinner. as usual, i don't eat much at barbeques, played more bridge, and participated in some camwhoring so favoured by my team. I skipped the Saw premier in the living room and went up to play MORE bridge, while waiting for handover to start. looking at how much effort the juniors put into the handover itself, i was really touched, and a little embarressed at the state of the previous years'. but also, it shows that next year's team is in real good hands! after the Video, there's the receiving of presents on the senior's side, then the official announcement of EXCO positions. Captains' speeches, one real heart-wrenching, while the other ended with anti-climax [seriously, i can never get the effect i want with speeches. they either convey the wrong mood, or end too abrubtly :/]

after that was more camwhoring, and I again, stayed with the BBQ pit like an old hen mother or chaperone. while the girls went off to the beach and pool. sometimes i wonder if i'll ever truly relax and be able to shuck off that responsible attitude of mine. and so, there was chicken wings and chicken breast leftover, and then ICE was the next to be barbequed.right. when the girls came back, we played the torturous drinking game with water [it should be called 'who has the biggest bladder!'] and i a little twister with the junior girls. there was the most silent game of mahjong ever, and then norman challenged the 'TWISTER MASTER' to the floor. the master retained her title! woohoo! went to sleep sometime there= 5.30am.

woke up with the sun in my face on tuesday morning. had breakfast, went cycling, and just as i thought i was going to emerged unscathed from the two hours of cycling, i had to get my big toe jammed in between the pedal and road curb. oucch. me no likey throbbing toe, it's very distracting before going to sleep. lunch after cycling, then me and derek left for home. both of us just slept all the way through from pasir ris to tiong bahru, and i alighted and walked back to an empty home close to 5pm. took my bath, unpacked, nursed my toe, did a little reading, and took a nap at about 8pm. was jolted awake closer to ten, for dinner. chicken rice. when you're tired, food doesn't taste that good ): and i went back to my bed to sleep at 11pm. sleepy me.

wednesday's outing was pretty aburpt. i only got the message sometime during my nap the day before.met sijing, yujie, christie and crystal at vivocity, and the rest came soon after. joyene, nanthini and melody. a crescent hockey lunch outing..we headed to Fig and Olives for the meal, the cheapest we could find without walking too much and without walking into a fast food restaurant. the meal was good, the company was great. although I could say that for me, most of the outing was an observation session of my past teammates. they've changed so much, away from the safe haven called crescent, i've been away for far too long. we adjourned to topshop, forever 21 and puma for window shopping, before going up to the hot hot roof for some camwhoring. after that was relief to my dessert craving for cake at Bakerzin! the half-price New York Cheesecake just hit the right spot (: Nanthini left then, and then we went over to Harbourfront's foodcourt for some nerd mugging session! haha. unexpected for a hockey outing! left by about 6pm since i had tuition again at home. guess who was coincidentally huddled at the table behind us mugging! Leejing! haha. noticed her only when i was about to leave..until the next mugging session hockers!

photos on facebook for the events i described.
whew.
in the end, i still like my tablet and n95 phone the best. familarity breeds love. no? haha.
so much for studying.

concluded: 11.24pm

i looked up from my book, expecting to see the dark sky of night, but instead, it was that of the light in the sky of dusk.

let's hope i can stay awake for two nights in a row..
getting reacquianted with my old love is great pleasure. also, the reason for which i fell in love with Judith MacNaguht: Paradise. The first book i ever felt that became a 'favourite'.

and thus my schedule is completely off course.

Sunday, June 14, 2009

a breezy afternoon, threatening of a light drizzle, is just perfect for a period of lazy reading on a couch, armed with a scone and a cup of milk and a great storybook. which i shall precisely do despite the angels of my conscience reminding me of the consequences should i do so.

Friday, June 12, 2009

I feel so old. As if i've lived longer than any others, watched others enter the world and leave before me. It only seemed like yesterday when I was elected vice-captain, and then captain. And now it's my turn to pass on the torch. As usual, I have left the many things I've gotta do till the last minute, and it's dropping on me like a huge boulder. It's a relief to finally be unburdened by the load, but the worry will always be there. It's just been too long that i've stayed in a single position, and my legs have gone numb. I can't move. I can't seem to move forward. Perhaps in time I will.

photos finally up on facebook. for SRC carnival and Pre u sem. but i've yet to get more from others.
there's two photo posts with commentary i want to blog on, but not tonight. a preview:
1) dinner with melissa at Mykii and 2am:dessert bar in holland V
2) lunch at Nadaman at Shangri-la hotel
i was in charge of some big event in a big building.
and i bought $22 worth of gummy bears to share around from 7-eleven's pick 'n' mix.
and i bought honey stixs too.
and then my dad arrived to pick me up from outside the building.
he was standing around outside, wearing the security guard's uniform, but not doing the job as the other security guards are.
my brother drove the car over and we went...somewhere.

i couldn't remember the front part of this dream, but it was a little weird...and ouch...$22 worth of gummies is about 1kg??

Job search: Sports Attendent
Salary : $7,500 per month or above , with Meal provided,Discretionary Bonus, Dental Coverage and Free transportation to Discovery Bay Offices District : Discovery Bay
Working Hours :
7AM-11PM,6 working days per week,on shift, shift holiday, 9 working hours per day

all i can say now is: OUCH. if you haven't seen it, it's in RED above.so much for having a life. relatively good pay i would say, but unless you have no life, don't take the job. thankfully it's based in Hong Kong.
don't get me started on Geog: standard of living and leisure time. can be applied to economics: Human Development Index. call it pure stress.
having regained back most of my mental thinking functions with sufficient sleep, i must say that Pre U sem has definitely been an eye-opener for me. the hostel experience in NUS, which i almost argued with my mom about a few months before abt another hostel, made me realize that she was probably 90% right. living alone, has its pros and cons, and with my short concentration span, being alone would have made no difference to my studying time. it might even shorten it, with having laundry, meals, and even room cleanliness to worry about. for that, i must thank my mom for being right, not just this once, but many other times before.

i would have to thank the minister and various guest speakers at the panel discussions for making me open up my view towards the future. i was always so centralized in pursuing baking and business (and maybe some others like air stewarding, banker, doctor, lawyer<

lastly, being among my group that had people with visions, some bold enough to step forward, unafraid of critisism( i know many of the pre u sem people have one person in mind haha), and i would use the word courageous to describe them. it's great that i got to meet these people, and i really have to thank them for making pre-u sem 2009 so memorable, and teaching me many wonderful things. also, imagine if everyone could have been friends among all the 500 participants during this event.

THANKS!~chao
after all that, the holidays are here. i already am in the midst of it, and time is just flying past. i look at my handy orange organizer, and realize that i really don't have all that much time left. holidays that are usually spent slacking at home and trainings in the past, are now replaced with studying (slotted in between the rest), hockey handover, and social gatherings. i even had a dream the other day:

i was looking at my june calendar, and after calculating the days, somehow i was a week away from common tests, and i hadn't even started revising my work yet. i freaked out, kinda, and woke up i guess. perhaps it was too much stress i'm getting about doing well for the exams. it makes a difference. being in J2. we start getting serious about our grades, about our future. and then start studying harder to achieve the good grades to reassure oneself. but sometimes it just doens't happen, and things might start going downhill instead of uphill, which i really hope doesn't happen to anyone close to me.

enjoy studying. gaining knowledge. learning about life. perhaps that's how i should be looking towards my studying sessions, make it more enjoyable/endurable. wish me luck and to the rest out there, do look towards the future with a constant smile on your face (:

Saturday, June 06, 2009

good morning. or night. i just had dinner, which makes it like one of my latest dinner ever. technically it's called supper. but yea, i just woke up about an hour ago from my pre-dinner nap. succumbed to my bed without even unpacking my stuff after about an hour of slacking when i reached home. 3.30pm-11.30 = 8 hours of napsleep. i was that tired eh? probably 1.5 hours of make-up sleep for each night of sleep i lost over the past five days. and those of you who still don't know i was somewhere the past five days... it was
PRE -UNIVERSITY SEMINAR 2009!!
woo! ok, that was faked enthusiasm since i'm still pretty tired. but i felt that way or another throughout the camp, with good food (uh at times), good company, good programme, and GREAT groupmates. a five-days long seminar on the theme: From Crisis to Confidence, Lessons and Opportunities.

Day 1
It starts at home, where i woke up pretty early (but not as early as the rest of the week went), to...BAKE CUPCAKES! i had to make three batches, since it was the first time i was using the recipe, and had a pretty small yield. but, there was double choc (white chocolate coveres) and dark choc centered cupcakes. i managed to finish baking everything and clean up, just that lunch wasn't covered by the time i had to leave. cooked noodles and brought it into the car to eat while my brother drove and picked Trudy up before we headed to Prince George's Park Residences. [fancy name eh? it was prety impressive, definitely much better than NJ hotel i bet. haha] check in went rather smoothly, except that we NJ people didn't get to meet up as a group before we were divided into our seminar groups. so no chance to distribute cupcakes ): but one hilarious thing did happen. wen loong. he was really outstanding at check in. visually that is. he was the only one wearing the BRIGHT RED NJ blazer in the hall. haha. apparently he didn't read the info pack properly, and arrived 2 hours early too! talk about embaressing. oh wells, at least it wasn't me and it started the day with some fun (: ok, from there on it was all seminar group 24!!! my big bag was a little cumbersome, haha, plus my new SLO had to help me carry my cupcakes up to the room. after much hoo-ha before about the impressive rooms, my expectations were pretty high and i was pretty excited to stay in it for the five days, but when i finally DID see it, it was...normal? haha. single bedroom with a closet and desk. sufficient, and clean. besides, we weren't paying for anything for this seminar, so what's there to complain?

1pm: changed into the next attire we had to wear, then explored the residences a little to familiarise with my cluster-room/group mates Madeline and Joyce, before the real programme started. There was a SUPERMARKET on campus! 'Nanyang supermarket' pretty ironic, since this was NUS and not NTU. haha. the time to meet arrived. We had ice breakers first, after the intro speech and verious briefings by the teachers in charge, where i finally got to know the dear two-four. an interesting bunch of people, a little sexist and quiet at first, since we mostly didn't know each other yet. understandable. so long as it didn't stay that way. Next was campus chase, almost like orientation station games around the PGP residences.it was fun, having to work our hands, teamwork, and brains. that did generate a little more hype within the group. after that, with our group symbol/doll [one of the station's activities to make a doll to represent our group - a newspaper stick man with a picture of ananda-the guy who acted in The Leap years, as the face. it was pretty nice (:] went for dinner at the Golden Spoon [ funny name for a canteen, while the other was called Foodgle]. I was in charge of ordering all the chicken rice from one stall for those who wanted, which was about 8 plates. although i was third in line, omg, it took about 20 minutes to get the food. since the people in front of me had the same idea of mass ordering too. there were three people manning the stall, but only one was chopping chicken rather slowly, hence the wait. well, rushed through my dinner so that i could go bathe, and was almost late for the night activity as i waited for mad to finish bathing too. quilt weaving was up next, and although i like to sew..it's sewing bags and pouches, where the straight lines and a sewing machine is involved. but to HAND SEW a pre-design onto a piece of cloth with limited materials, that was a pain in the ass. for the first night at least, since i hadn't touched a needle and thread in quite a while.

10.30pm: attempted quilt weaving ended and debrief ended. from there was supposedly own timing. time for cupcake distribution, which i basically msged the NJ girls to come to my room to get them. they were recieved rather promptly. haha. the second group that arrived consisting of matilda, rachel, audrey, bandana, lavania and joyce turned it into a cupcake/gossip party in my room. haha. NJ gossip mostly. so those pre-u sem people who are worried, don't be. haha. that dragged till about 12.30am? so much for sleeping early. imagine, the first day only started at 1pm, yet so much was done..how about the next 4 days?

Day 2
6am: wake up time. it's the holidays yet i'm waking up as early as i would for school! oh wells, i took my bath [which is a rarity in the mornings] since it was bloody stuffy in the room and rather warm at night. first attire for the day: Blazer and court shoes. ugh. talk about uncomfortable. went down for breakfast, which was nasi lemak. just rice and a chicken wing. and a wedge of omelette. bah. we had almost an hour to kill after that, before the bus arrived to take us to the opening ceremony. so much for having to wake up so early. could have used a little more sleep.

9am: Opening Ceremony. a rather grand affair i observed. the whole pre u sem was actually a rather big thing i realized. anyway, the keynote address was still the best i've heard so far. by Minister of Education: Dr Ng Eng Hen. Inspiring i would say, despite it taking more than half an hour. very interesting and relevent issues addressed, plus it made me look towards the future. as always, ministers have charisma and made it a light hearted speech injected with humour. he has the soft-spoken voice as compared to other speakers, but full of confidence. i wish i had such a skill. there was even an Q and A session for the minister after his opening speech! haha. truly a seminar. tea came at last, after quite a lot of questions were asked (although i thought some irrelevant), and i ate quite a bit i must say. the catered food was pretty good (: [it's like DUH since ministers are around. haha]

On to the next lecture theatre for the parallel presentations. 3 schools presented [don't think my mind could have lasted more]. SRJC up first, so i guess i was pretty attentive. but that caused the mental drain. spaced out during the second: RVHS, then was just utterly lost on the third: SP's presentation on SWFs {Sovereign Wealth funds, or so i heard} Q and A was interesting. almost akin to verbal battlefield. It is one of the few times you'll see QUEUES of people trying to step up to the mike to ask questions. with 4 microphones scattered around the LT, all had at least 3-4 people behind it. wow. well, as always, battles will have a target. this LT's unfortunate victim was SRJC. not that there was anything significantly wrong with the presentation, i felt they just all wanted to send a strike over and make things difficult, even if the questions seems a little irrelevant or picking at minor details. oh wells. i was a little too sleepy to take part in the battle, as did the rest of the 3/4 of the LT. HAHA.

LUNCH! ate again, before going back to the first LT to have the New Media Arts video presentation, of the top 10 school's videos. NJ was in the top 10! haha, quite proud of it since i was part of that team.we definitely did work hard on it. the other school's videos, some looked so professionally done and a lot more exciting, made ours look pale in comparison. oh wells. we did what we could. PJ won the video thing if i'm not wrong, with camera stillshots and speech bubbles made into a video. interesting.

went back to PGP to rest after that butt-aching, brain draining day, took a bath, then rushed out to get shoes and miscellaneous items from my dad [since we needed wet shoes and apparently ALL the participants weren't aware of the need to bring extra shoes. dinner was pre-ordered by our SLOs while we were bathing, and i stupidly went to order noodles. and so, i had really fat, soggy sliced fish noodles that had starchy soup, which kinda killed my appetite. quilt weaving continued after, and we were all pretty stressed out since we had to finish it that night.

but no, once 11pm arrived i put down my unfinished work and went to join the NJ meeting called on by zai. brought the remaining cupcakes along for the guys i didn't give out the day before, and zai was meant to be punished by not getting a cupcake, for not telling us the venue was changed, but that persistent annoying brat had to get a cupcake :/ oh wells. at least it was entertaining seeing a person deprived of cupcakes for awhile. the meeting was nothing much, a little chat hear and there, and some NUS guy living in the blocks aroung shouting at us to shut up. haha. it was pretty funny, but we did consciously kept our volume down then.

11.50pm. Letts got a call. we all know from who. and when he came back at 12, a hushed birthday song was sung. i left after that, to finally finish my patchwork at 1.30am. sigh. caused a cut on my finger by a needle too:/
[ BAH. it's taking damn long to type each day out :/ ]

Day 3
woke up again at 6, snoozed till 6.20am. didn't bath, blazered myself, and had breakfast of cream bun. that still left me hungry): and so my tummy was growling during the parallel presentations, which i was pretty attentive for. RI(JC) got shot the most for this day, which was pretty sad. either due to 1) this is a rare chance anyone would get to shoot down a top JC, or 2) everyone paid attention to only RJ so as a scrutinize every detail there was to find faults with. well, i was nice enough to direct a question to PJC instead, about sports (: [so me to pay attention to such stuffs]. tea came! and i gorged fed myself full. did i mention that the stuff i've been eating has been super oily? i mean the food was nice, but there was A LOT of fried stuff. that happens with catered food, i'm guessing due to longer shelf life of fried food.
The first panel discussion came up, and well, we had to wait about 15 minutes for the guests to arrive. that set the pace for me for the rest of the dicussion. I TRIED my best to keep awake, but having a full tummy and little sleep causes one to doze off even if one doesn't want to. how embarressing. i was sitting in the centre wearing a RED blazer, falling asleep while the speakers presented. it helped a little that kenneth just slept blatently throughout the whole thing beside me, with his whole body tilting to one side. oh wells. glad that embaressing scene's over ( and to think i'll just go ahead and sleep during lectures). LUNCH! ok, didn't have much appetite i think. OH YES. i remember now. i was suffering from my morning sinus the whole morning. that's why i was so tired and slept. all due to a rainy morning. but luckily it cleared by midday, thanks to lunch (:

on to sentosa!! i have to applaude the SPF (special programmes facilitators) for coming up with such unique spins on games that have always been commonly played. where there's three-way captain's ball, with not one but TWO YOGA balls, three way siamese soccer, where it's a cross between street soccer and the three-legged race.minefield was pretty normal, where a person is blindfolded, and the partner has to guide them to pick up coloured balls without touching 'mines'. those were the beach games, the other two activities were a mini-GPS-guided race to carry out some activities, and rafting challenge between palawan beach and the southern most island of sentosa (the one where the rope bridge links the two islands). tiring that was. but there was entertainment. a couple making out in the sea for more than half an hour (i mean they were there before our GPS race and still there during rafting challenge.haha.) in full view of everyone on the beach..

it was a tiring but coincidental day anyway, since i got to meet dickson (who was an SPF for the rafting challenge), and aleee, who was there with friends to suntan. haha. but thanks to the activities and tight schedule, i couldn't get to talk to them much. rinse off all the sand after the awards ceremony on palawan beach, and went back to PGP wet. (it took longer than i thought, so i was wet for about two hours before i could take my bath and be DRY at PGP.) dinner was meant to be ate on the beach in sentosa, but due to logistical problems, we ate back at PGP at the plaza. pretty cosy, dark ambience, around a small lamppost. SG24 dinner!haha. after bath was the last quilt weaving session, but since i already handed that up, i just helped around..then did LAUNDRY. it's quite troublesome, just to use the machine and dryer. i mean i think i might have finished earlier if i just handwashed everything. firstly, the laundry room was pretty far away. secondly, we started at 11 plus. thirdly, the machines required all 20 cent coins.fourthly, washing plus drying took 30 minutes + 40 minutes. but due to inexperience and insufficient detergent, me and mad used up a total of $6 on washing, washed the clothes TWICE, thus ended laundry at 1.40am. thanks joyce for staying up with us, or should i thank your insomnia? haha. i ate cup noodles while waiting and managed to read about 10 pages of the book i brought along?

Day 4
oh man, i woke up to the knocking of my door at 6.40am, when breakfast is at 6.45am. so much for 3 alarms. this time, we went for breakfast first before getting blazered up. and then it occured to me that this was the second last day of camp already!! saddening. i was actually getting used to dress up in formal attire every morning then, stockings, skirt, shirt, tie, blazer, court shoes. and then off to the last round of parallel presentations.

i seem to be having a sore throat now, either from disuse, or all the oily food has finally caught up to me. i still need my night-sleep, despite having slept so much in the day already. i'll try to link the words above tomorrow or something, so that it'll be more coherent.nights!
