Overall development of the student? I don't hear the social aspect of it.

Must Stretch potential? But like a rubber band, there's a limit to how much we can stretch, and if i remember right, each rubber band has different elasticity potentials, and by stretching everyone, there is a risk of people breaking. Would you rather people break and a majority of overused rubberbands or brand new ones which can stretch for the future. Well you could look it at how the more you stretch, the more elastic it'll be for future use. Oh man.i'm contradicting myself on this and it just goes round and round in a circle.
-Monday 24th august 2008, 12.20pm (Principal dialogue session)

Today passed by in a blur for me. Starting with how i found my brother sleeping on the living room floor, with the lights still on. Then i missed the bus 171 when there was the electronic board that stated 3min for the bus to arrive, and the next time i checked, it was 13min. I still don't know how i didn't see the bus pass at all. Then, repeatedly fell asleep during first period econs lecture, with the vp lecturing directly in front of me, while i was taking notes down too. Pe was fine, math- i did nothing for math.was doing geog work, and when i wanted to start on math, it was over. Lunch seemed longer than usual.chinese.my mind just wasn't there.geog. I heard more babble than reasons for differences in primate cities in LDC and DCs. Second period geog was all conversation and visualiser-camwhoring. Maybe its the rain. That turns people's character. I observed five different kids emo during cip, and two of them were cause they were playing and pulled down a curtain and the ceiling broke.i bet they got lectured. Then my study session at long john's. Ate mediocre fast food, did three geog questions on the hydrological cycle and fell asleep for who knows how long. Gave up the rest by 6pm and decided to come home and sleep.

I have finally realized why i looked better in primary school. Today's trip back to hpps gym was like, exhausting. I mean i was tired and panting from just doing only a few tumbles, and i bet my muscles are going to be aching for the next week. When i was young, meaning about 5 years younger than the current me, i had boundless energy, super flexibility, a light weight, and more muscles in the right places, which is either perfect for gym, or cultivated from gym. Now, the current me? let's not talk about it. Advantages of doing gym not only makes you look good, feel good, have courage and an adventurous spirit. People will admire you for those qualities as i find gymnasts are more outgoing. Downside? Improper training results in bad joints for the rest of your life.

A HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY to all my teachers who taught me so far, i don't think i would even be here right now if none of you have influenced me in one way or another.
like always, teacher's day was ACES day, where we did kickboxing to techno music again. Council this year was active and dubbed it 'Be yourself day.' I think it's a good thing, when most of my class guys dress up, it kinda actually makes the class bond through their entertaining yet extravagant actions. concert wasn't too bad, and class pizza party, well we haven't had one in awhile.

it seemed so long ago that i actually went back to henry park, a year maybe? A little changes here and there, to the teachers, to the group that goes back. i mean it's been five years since we graduated from the school, but it still brings back pleasant memories. there were nice revelations, entertainment from the primary one and two kids' hyperactive-ness and chaotic mess in the hall, and their attempt to do the chicken dance for ACES. i really admire the teachers for having so much patience and (the most appropriate word that fits would be) understanding. really. thank you teachers for putting up with us brats in the past. i never realized how.....big a handful we could have been.

i miss the good old times.

someone's applying balm somewhere and i can smell it through my open window. it always happens. someone cooking egg, someone cooking chicken in dark soy sauce, someone baking, should the wind happen to blow in my direction with me at my table, i'll smell it. for once i finished a project, to be more specific, econs VA before sunday night. at the expense of a whole saturday night. and sunday morning. literally. since friday night, i've only slept about 3 hours. when i was watching the olympic rhythmic gymnastics at 1am and from 3pm to 5pm just now, when the weather was so blissfully cooling, raining and all. but from 2.30am to 12pm, econs VA straight. for once, i had the discipline.

and slacked the rest of the sunday off. so much for wanting to study and finishing my story.

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Oh man. Its 7.20pm and i'm in the canteen watching a couple taking WEDDING PICTURES on the njc steps up to the canteen. I can only assume that they are teachers or very patriotic alumni of the school.

so much for self study and reflection.
it was more like manga and fantasy world.
OMG. the men's 10000m race. That's 25 laps around the track. First round 67s, second round 69s, third round went down to 61s.and another 22 rounds to go. Compare it to my own speed. 1 round of sprinting alone i clock about 100s. They do two rounds in 140s, that's one round of a fast jog for me, and i'll feel a little winded. Sigh. At 13.15min, they finished 4800m. Double my napfa distance in the same time. And they are INCREASING THEIR SPEED!! with more than 10laps to go.

-17th Aug (sunday) 11.15pm
my day.
lets start with early morning. 2am. bag all packed and ready for school today, thus i went to sleep. tossed and turned, coughed a few times, not sure when i actually managed to reach dreamland.

next scene. music is playing, i think 'my alarm clock'. i listen to it until it stops, then i open my eyes. 'why's it so bright?' i look at my phone. '8.03am, 1 missed call.time of call: 8.03am'.'is today sunday? oh no it is monday. school started. that's probably sheena, hui juan or trudy who called then. oh wells. should i go to school then? *rolls around some more, sits up, looks around.* my dad enters my room "you're still at home? i thought you left for school already? didn't see you. come on, go wash up and i'll send you to school" i cough. and cough. "it's eight" my dad says. i cough some more. maybe you should see the doctor first before going to school." i thought, double chinese as the first two periods, and laid back down to sleep. 2 minutes later i got up and got ready.time dragged.

at 9.30am i am at the doctor's waiting for my turn. 8 people to go. time to send out messages to get kind souls to copy work for me, and then read my book. somehow, i had to send the same message out to 3 people in my econs class. why? because the other two weren't in school too. poor ms lim, having such a small econs class for today. oh wells.

common flu i'm told by the doctor. the checkup was done within two minutes. 15 bucks for that. and i'm out of the clinic with my syrup and little pills an hour after i entered. headed over to tiong bahru plaza opposite to get necessities, and walked past the newly-opened donut factory. at 10.30am it's open. unlike most of the other stores inside. so i decided to treat my family to some nice fried round bread coated with chocolate. as i left the store, the nice friendly counter staff greeted after me "thank you ma'am". i replied a thank you and thought, do i look that old in t-shirt and fbts with glasses on? after i stepped out of the sweet-smelling factory, i remembered the last time i did that, my mum told me 'you got too much money is it?' oh wells. what's done is done.and i went home.

read finish the book i bought on impulse as a national day present to myself 'The Time Traveller's Wife'. great book, made my eyes shine as some point of the story, but after i closed the back cover, i realized 'i don't regret buying this book for myself' considering i ALWAYS borrowed books from the library or chris(she's my personal library).

and so i was supposed to be taking a class photo with my class 4 hours ago (well, i've already got two of those, it won't matter much to miss one this year. the first i've missed since primary school), have econs consultation with ms lim right about now, and then PE, before some self training with the team in school, and then rush down to taka fo seoul garden dinner with taichi and the maldives gang. look's like i'm trading all that for....blogging, self-study at home (if its possible), and some reflection time.

see you tomorrow.

Saturday, August 16, 2008

oh man. somehow i just got really distracted off bio 'Genetics of Viruses', i mean, the Olympics marathon can still be more interesting than that.

and somehow..my focus shifted to gym, then rhythmic gym, then the search for youtube video..and yada yada yada.i found great WOW-able videos.

my favourite so far:
1. kiara nowlins. i think she would have made a GREAT gymnast..and born in 1995, that's 13 years old this year mind you. aiming for stanford too? that's what i call inspirational.
2.rhythmic gymnastics. gets a little repetitive after awhile.
3.italy's RG.
pretty..
4. america's got talent. it was just funny looking at the judge's reaction.
5. thomas daley (: i feel like diving now. except i know i'll make the biggest splash ever.
ok, Shawn Johnson is YOUNGER than me. not much surprise there..but 16 and already winning an Olympics medal. that's just WOW. Nastia Liukin though..she's 19. and a Gold medal. they've got a good life ahead of them.

Friday, August 15, 2008

Oh man. That was what you would have to call LITTLE RED HOT CHILLI. The smiling, confident girl i spotted on tv just a few days ago- Shawn Johnson. Silver medallist for the 2008 Olympics Gymnastic Women's Individual. I was lucky enough to catch her, the last competitor's floor routine on TV mobile on bus 5. I wasn't seating upclose, but i thought the routine was PERFECT. triple twists, double backsommers, perfect landings, all looked so easily done, as if anyone can do it. She's my new gym idol. Ok, maybe the gold medallist will take that place after i watch her routines. Liukin. If i remember right, she was the really graceful and stable one i saw do the beam routine on sunday. China got the bronze. Can't say much till i watch the replays though.
-7.35pm
tag replies:
chris- wouldn't you have too if you were watching it? And sadly syuusuke's younger than me now. But it won't be a problem yet would it?

sue- aw, poor thing. Have fun at your disability thing this weekend!

norman- impossible. you haven't seen the countless photos of me on the ground while i'm playing hockey. Very UNgraceful.

travis- if there could be such a thing as playing hockey daintily, i would never be involved in it.haha.

Which path should i take?

Monday, August 11, 2008

Oh man, britain's synchro diver was cute! Man, he's 13 or 14 and already had MUSCLES.hot bod.thomas daley he's called.[sadly they got last place.] US was not bad either.thomas finchum.tall, but a little on the skinny side.
-3.30pm

just wanted to say how graceful the japanese girls make volleyball look. they jump, dive, roll on the floor, dig, spike, set, all so daintily gracefully yet the power transferred to the ball is like "WHOOSH". makes hockey look like such a man-sport. haha. oh and i think volleyball is the only sport where you see a great variation in height. you need the tallest to attack and block at the net, and yet the shortests still can play on court as the defender or setters. example: japan's Sano at 1.59m (that's still taller than me anyhow :/ ) and on the same team, both Araki Erika and Kurihara Megumi (she was the really graceful one) at 1.86m.

and hockey men's - Netherlands trashed South Africa with 5-0.
this morning's match made me exclaim quite a bit, GBR (great britain for those who wonder) vs. PAK (pakistan). only managed to watch the second half, where PAK scored their first two goals, and great britain their forth. all were nice goals, except PAK's first goal...i couldn't believe how lucky they were.
1. guy receives ball the top of the D, on the left.
2. lines up the ball and takes a shot.
3. ball flies and hits the goalkeeper's helmet.
4. ball rebounds off the helmet and hits the INSIDE of the side goalpost.
5. goal rebounds off the goalpost to hit the back of the net.
= GOAL

seriously.

great game anyway. can watch the replay on starhub cable channel 605 tonight, 10.30pm to 12am.

some pictures i forgot to post up.

the vanilla custard i made on impulse, mixture bought from DAISO.

mango parfiat and oreo cheesecake from the Square dinner buffet at Novotel.

anne's artistic impression on my NDC clapper. i painted the nails (:

anne's artistic tattoo on my ankle this time..

ariel's artistic tattoo this time. on my other ankle.

a random shot of the sky from my bedroom window yesterday.

i need to get back to my vision of doing work.

Sunday, August 10, 2008

this morning i woke up with a vision for the day. first i would make breakfast, then do some house chores like sweeping the floor, then get started on work - written report. after i finish that, maybe have lunch, then do chinese, hopefully move on to econs and maths after that.

but in reality. i lazed in bed for an hour before getting up, realizing that there was a japan vs new zealand hopckey match on tv. watched that, before making a somewhat long breakfast since it was bread pizza, and the oven didn't seem to want to work for me.the rest of the day passed by with more hockey matches, a little synchronised diving, women's artistic gymnastics (they didn't show japan's routines!!! only like one vault attempt by this girl who looked barely 12 years old) ok, basically it wasn't very productive at all besides watching olympics. although watching so much hockey got me in the mood to play some hockey, improve my skills.

you worry too much
well it's too late to wish singapore a happy birthday...since that was yesterday.
and what a way to celebrate national day the nj way. get your groupmates together and do PW the whole afternoon with lotsa food and the TV on the olympics.
dinner was...better than average i would say. buffet dinner at the Square to celebrate my brother's birthday. food was nice, but not the 'terrific!' or 'the best!' as i expected from a nice restaurant like that. but a few nice items found in the buffet considering my picky nature.
-Smoked Salmon Mousse (quite nice)
-Roasted Duck (average, a little dry?)
-Pork Satay ( there are better ones around, average)
-Mantou (dry, cold, edible but rather not have taken it.)
-Salmon sushi
-Prata (nice, as it wasn't oily, was crispy and had layers. I ate it with chocolate from the fountain since i couldn't find any sugar (: )
-Cereal Prawn (nice big juicy prawns, crispy cereal, but can be found in many chinese restaurants too, too bad it was fried with chilli, if not i would have liked it better.)

on to dessert, loved this part of the buffet the most
-mango parfait (the best of the whole buffet. except for the sour rasberry)
-oreo cheesecake ( nice enough, but still like whisk's and rive gauche's oreo cheesecake better)
-pandan creme brulee (nice combination, but would have preferred individual servings, and NOT lime green.
-lychee and lime jelly (taste was nice if it could have been a little stronger, a little sweeter)
-bread and butter pudding (vanilla cream was nice, but the pudding wasn't suited to my tastes)

that's my dinner. which resulted in a bulging tummy after.
there was more at the buffet which i didn't touch, like sashimi, chilli crab, laksa, curry chicken, carrot cake etc., which were coincidentally the oily stuff.haha.

Thursday, August 07, 2008

don't they look nice? it looks nice, sounds nice, certainly tempting.i was almost all ready to order them if they were being sold online....until i scrolled down and saw this.
i bet you it's US currency too.never singapore dollars.

present for christmas to me anybody? (:
sigh.

Wednesday, August 06, 2008

I had no idea there were guys in nj that rebellious. Ok, it should have been expected, but it was suprising all the same. A guy who had an ear piercing on his left ear. Well, congrats on not getting caught yet pal :)
- 2.13pm

I think it was the best present i ever got myself. Out of the many things i splurged on during birthday season for no reason, i would use my own birthday as an excuse to convince myself that it was money well spent on myself. Ranging from clothes, to food, to entertainment...my wallet and card was constantly open, to much regret.

But this post is not about regret, its about me complementing the film, 'The Leap Years', a singaporean production, which i am very proud of to own a vcd of. Despite the critic i read about it only, from an average romantic's point of they, i think it was a great movie. Especially loved the plot. It was the kind of movie i expected when i saw that trailer many months ago, but after i watched it, it was better:) only sad thing is that i couldn't get to watch it on february 29th. A few months have passed, but i don't think i'm as patient as Li Ann to wait four years...to watch a vcd.

It left a similar after-movie feeling to Wedding Daze. But i'm guessing this affected me more due to a singapore context, and well i consider february 29th a very special day.

Well if you thought i was a little dao, dazed, emo or just a little quiet today, don't mind it. Nothing about you, just the movie that set me thinking. Such things are storylines, thought up by very imaginative, or you could say inspirational people and deliver it.thank you for that.

Life goes on.

well i'm like blogging on my phone, and can't really post it here at once, thus the outdated entries.

oh man.

You Communicate Like a Man

When you communicate, you like to get to the point.

You're not afraid to say what's on your mind - and leave it at that.

Talking about your emotions drains you. You rather keep them to yourself.

You prefer solving problems to wallowing in your sorrows.

and i typed this one my phone while i waited for my brother who went to the toilet last night before the movie.
"Its saturday, golden village at tiong bahru, 15min to midnight.the cinema lobby is full, there's slow human traffic. People are still queuing for tickets and popcorn. This is just a glimpse of a weekend nightlife at a heartland mall."

lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALICIA! great party you had today, and you've gotta thank your brother and joanne for their patience and the wonderful job they did planning and carrying out the games. continue smiling and have a great trip to kansas!
the dark knight
fresh back from the cinema right now. it was much longer than i expected. lots of twists and turns, so not predictable, which is rather refreshing. and now, after the second movie, christian bale is hot. charming in a way.love the bikes, condolences to the car(s). especially the lamborghini. it was a beau. the only unrealistic part was...the pain. i don't like movies with pain. overall. good movie. thankfully i didn't fall asleep.
wish you were there beside me.

Friday, August 01, 2008

you know the familiar acronym - TGIF? -thank god it's friday.
i wouldn't say it is for me. only the weekend i look forward to, but not the day friday itself. not only is it my busiest day from morning to night, its the day that my body feels the weakest from the accumulated stresses and deprived sleep. and so like today, i'm falling sick. but i'll feel better by saturday morning, as always. remember how an apple a day keep the doctor away? i'm eating one now (:
except i don't want to keep this doctor away.
today, i felt that i was just...deprived. of hockey that is. and i really do not like waiting for buses and waiting on the bus. it feels like eternity especially when you're in a rush. and rushing around like that, was just not healthy, causing impatience, stress and all. i just want a slower pace of life.

the week generally wasn't too bad, although i have no idea why i slept late through the week despite the lessened workload .hm.

my aspiring career has seemed to shift again. from business women, to pastry chef cum cafe owner, and now a hotel manager. i'm sure there were a few in between like commercial air pilot, restaurant chef(culinary), writer etc. i imagine myself, owning the hotel cum chalet, running it smoothly, and it's pretty hot and well, generates profits. but the flaw in my dream is that i'm always working alone. there's no partners, no shareholders, i'm the only one. of course there'll be workers working under me, but i'm like the big boss, supervisor, running the hotel aspect, cafe, restaurant, bar, everything! and i pop up in my own hotel as the pastry chef, waitress, concierge, and of course hotel manager. but i person is only entitled to one job/position right? i mean like i can't be the waitress AND the hotel manager.oh wells. we'll see if that changes when the time comes to decide yea?

can't wait.
