Date A Girl Who Travels

something just resonated in me when I read the article by Aleah on Solitarywanderer.com.

"She knows she’s been to a lot of places, but she’s humbled by the fact that the world is still a big place and she’s only seen a small part of it."

"Find a girl who travels. Date her, love her, and marry her, and your world will never be the same again."

time alone

I felt lazy. and maybe it wasn't practical to join others climbing when others have already climbed for 2 hours. So I just decided to head home. It was a pretty good decision. Some alone time (in the day), which I definitely have been lacking recently.

There's just been so much moving around, meeting people, being sociable. And coming back home just means it's time to clear emails, follow up on the progress of events, and catch some sleep to re-energize for the next day's hectic schedule. I could say it's a definite recipe for burning out.

It's a particularly inspiring day, following a brunch with the namaste people (refers to the team i did and OCIP to nepal with last year). The leaders for the subsequent Namaste mission just came back recently, and they were sharing all the stories that happened up in the mountains those two weeks, while we compared it to our experiences a year before. It was a great time to reminiscence. And while Zehou just came back from his backpacking trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Bangkok, Zihan had just returned from India as well. It really made me want to just fly out and explore the world there and then. But with Namaste, there's always this sense of giving back. It started out after all, as a community service trip between a group of people wanting to give back to the citizens of the world. The social enterprise cafe which allowed tourists to help it's workers by teaching them english, the swiss doctor who set up a chain of free children's medical hospital and his weekly cello concerts without fail, the joy displayed by the children in Nepal when we arrived, it's a wonderous feeling of amazement.

This is why i love them Namaste people. Giving me inspiration and motivation to aspire.
Thanks guys.

my passion for cooking and baking has been fuelled up once more..
by a book 'The Food of Love' by Anthony Capella.
a romance novel about a chef in rome, and an american girl in a web of lies....
oh i just want to travel to rome now. and then there's the cuisine described in the book..just made me hungry to try them, to cook outrageously delicious recipes, to make people want to eat the food you cook.
i went on a grocery shopping spree after, with desserts in my head to be made and eaten. but with the guilt of already spending my time reading instead of studying at the library today took a toll, thus dessert was bought. tried to make panna cotta again, improvised without the gelatin sheets that i couldn't find in NTUC, we'll see the results of that tomorrow.
From Q Bread bakery: Cheese mousse. The cream was light, almost like whipped cream, but a little excessive, while the cake was not as light as it looked.

yesterday, was one hell of an interesting day, full of emotions i would say. and quite ironic when i compare the situations i was in.

do you think i'm cold/heartless/emotionless?

it's so exciting!
looking through university websites, learning about the kinds of things I need to know for the future.
you could say i never thought about going overseas just a few months back, and now i'm looking at the whole world!
my ultimate focus is still on business. who knew you can get an MBA just within 2 years? well i just did. apparently the 2-year MBAs are AFTER you get your bachelor's degree with honors [Stanford] just a little more research and my eyes are opened. it seems like a lot more paths into my future has grown(:
Pastry pastry, i'm sorry, but you've gotta wait.

oh and i must say that harvard's homepage picture is a little freakish. mealworms??here.

duplicity > watched it tonight with trudy. a truly impulsive decision after getting that pair of free movie tickets totally by luck and chance. an intelligent show, not much laugh-out-loud humour, more like ocean's eleven kind of plot line. was good, but not great. I definitely enjoyed ice age 3 and transformers better.
they got played alright.

and yes, that makes it three movies i've watched in one week. going out so much, has made me just tired of going out and spending so much. makes me feel like staying home and concentrating on my work. let's just hope the feeling stays for another 5 months. now we know the technique - feed one too much cake and one will abstain from it naturally.
there was the other consequence concerning my wallet. one week, and i blew almost 2.4 times my weekly allowance. that's just overboard. i took the chance in between classes, and spent at least half an hour going through my receipts and memories on what i spent, and recorded them. long list = not a good sign. money really does just disappear when you aren't looking.
it's time to stop.
WOAH.

now i should start getting serious and the plan's been floating around my head for awhile. i shall draw up
1)a computer schedule
2)a study schedule
3)an excercise schedule
pray that i'll follow it after 10 years of not following self-made timetables.( yes, i tried them in primary school and they didn't work at all)

and so after i complete the current book i'm reading, it shall be my last fictional book i'll read before the As (perhaps maybe one compromise for near-breakdown moments), second last movie today, the last shall be harry potter's final end. and i shall limit my outings to, 1 at most per fortnight. no more baking (except weekends, uh max twice a month). i should lock up my cupboard to the baking supplies :/

STICK WITH IT PAM.

part of all the above motivation comes from
a) today's scholarship fair - scholarships are like free money, that comes with a price tag of 4As, and good prelim results.
b) the rather inpiring romance novel i'm reading Heart and Soul by Sally Mansel. great for musicians out there who likes piano too.

i'm gonna hunt down those As baby.

ps. blogger seems to be against uploading photos ):
